this is helpful for checking as-quick-as-possible if a mille binary data file is corrupted or not since it goes through all of the data in the file but does not waste time printing it to the terminal

the struct module has the same API for our use case and handles the odd string/bytearray differences between Python2 and Python3 seemingly automatically. I need to check further, but the first 10 records from an arbitrarily chosen mille binary file are printing the same content to the screen in both a python 2.7.18 and 3.11.2 interpreters
