remove echo() and refactoring to reduce the number of steps - this should make the logs easier to read

First step to split the long-running analysis (valgrind, coverage) off the main build job. For now, the analysis is disabled.

run valgrind direclty on the test executables instead of ctest - otherwise the test result seems to be always empty
